In this day and age, there is a significant rise in Contractor Fraud throughout the country. There are several forms of contractor fraud. The first being that the “contractor” is not licensed and or insured. This is serious because it is illegal for both the homeowner and the contractor. It’s also a big problem because you now have no warranty on the work being performed. It’s a major risk that isn’t worth it in the end.
Another form of fraud is a bate and switch tactic, this meaning you get contracted for one type of job and materials and receive something totally different. Always get in writing as much information as you can in order to avoid this problem.
If you do your homework, ask the proper questions and look over your contract thoroughly….you will be fine!
